General Information

  1. What is Rippling?
    Rippling replaces multiple systems for managing time cards, scheduling, and benefits, providing a centralized platform for employees and managers.
  2. Does Rippling support specific regional requirements?
    Yes, Rippling integrates with specific requirements, including state laws.
  3. When does Rippling go live?

Leave Management

  1. How is vacation time accrued?
    Vacation is accrued over time and can be viewed in the Rippling dashboard.
  2. How do I request time off?
    • View projected available time for future holidays.
    • Select the appropriate category of time off.
    • Requests are blocked if there’s insufficient time available.
    • Adjust requests for partial days by specifying start time and duration.
    • Optional notes can be added for documentation.
  3. Can I cancel a time-off request?
    Yes, you can cancel your request unless it has already been approved by your manager. Once the request is approved, you will not be able to cancel the request through Rippling. You will need to coordinate with your manager to get the approved time off canceled.
  4. Will time-off approvals ever become automatic?
    In future phases, approvals may be automatic if balances are sufficient.

Time and Attendance

  1. How do I clock in or out?
    • Take Break: Options include meal breaks (30 or 60 minutes) and unpaid extended breaks (for emergencies).
    • Clock Out: Confirm details in the pop-up window and click "Looks Good" even if changes are required (label updates pending).
  2. What are the break options?
  • Meal Break: Choose based on your schedule. The timer starts as soon as the dialogue box is opened; track break duration and remaining time in the Rippling app.
  • Unpaid Extended Break: Use for emergencies requiring extended time away.
  • Regular 10-minute paid breaks do not need to be recorded. Continue to record your 10-minute break through Slack break channel. 
  1. How do I end a break?
  • Return to the same task: Click "End Break."
  • Switch tasks: Select "End break and Change Job."
  1. How do I add or edit a timecard?
  • To manually add a timecard: Select Business Line, Shift Location, and Task and input start/end time.
  • For edits: Use the "Request Change" option, update the details, and submit for manager approval.
  1. Can I view past timecards?
    Yes, under "My Time," you can view all timecards, including pending ones.

Scheduling and Shift Management

  1. How can I view my schedule?
    Schedules can be exported to apps like Google Calendar or Apple Calendar, with automatic syncing of updates.
  2. How do I set availability?
    Indicate preferred times to work or avoid being offered shifts through the scheduling settings.
  3. What is the "Rippling Swap Board"?
  • Swap: Exchange shifts with colleagues.
  • Cover: Notify others of a shift you want covered.
  • Drop: Release shifts 28+ days in advance.
  1. Are there limitations with scheduling?
  • Shift splitting is not yet supported.
  • Meal breaks are marked but cannot currently be edited for splitting.
  1. How does Rippling handle forfeited shifts?
    Workforce Management (WFM) ensures forfeited shifts are posted as available on Open Shifts.
